The school has a long tradition of excellence in sport. It is in keeping with our ethos of ‘Sport for All’, where all girls are encouraged to play well and enjoy the game. Our outside facilities boast a full-size netball and tennis court, adventure playground and even gardening plots. Gymnastics and dance take place in the school auditorium.
Music is very important to the life of the school. It brings together intellect and feeling and enables personal expression. Pupils are encouraged to explore through listening, singing and playing a wide range of musical genres. In lessons, girls acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to make music and have the opportunity to perform and compose using a wide range of musical instruments. Girls participate daily in collective singing during assembly and are exposed to classical and live music.
We believe children gain much from participating in musical and theatrical productions. During the year all children take part in various productions. They are also given regular opportunities to take part in school assemblies.
We promote a competitive sporting instinct, whilst maintaining a sense of fun, and take full advantage of our proximity to Hampstead Heath for other sports such as Tag rugby, football, hockey, orienteering, rounders and cricket.
The Village School has established an enviable reputation for ambitious dramatic and musical productions which are performed in our purpose built theatre. This excellence is achieved through encouraging a real sense of team work as well as individual effort.
Pupils also have access to instrumental tuition and these pupils are encouraged to perform whatever their standard. We have two enthusiastic choirs who have been invited to sing at different events and locations in London.
Girls are welcome in the playground from 8am and are invited to join our active school clubs, including the 4 o’clock club, Choir, Gymnastics, Performing Arts, Chess, Netball, Spanish, Debate and Drama.
